Mulliner Bacalar

No roof, twelve commissions

The Bacalar restarted Mulliner coachbuilding with twelve customer-specified, roofless two-seaters. Its bodywork was shared with no series Bentley beyond the door handles. Factory specification, luggage and service history define each car.

Twelve individually specified cars are too few for a stable average, and colour, equipment, factory documentation and taxes make headline comparisons coarse.

Overview

Mulliner reopened the coachbuilding book

Bentley revealed the Bacalar at Crewe on 3 March 2020. All twelve cars were already allocated, and customers worked directly with Mulliner on paint, leather, textile, veneer and detail finishes.

Customer production began in 2021. By August 2022 eight cars had been delivered and the final four were in preparation, closing a run in which each car took about six months to complete. The programme led directly to the Batur.
