TK Mak

Chairman and chief executive officer of Blackbird Group; commissioner of the Ferrari P80/C

The record

Mak Chun Kiu, known as TK Mak, is chairman and chief executive officer of Blackbird Group. He commissioned Ferrari’s track-only P80/C, a one-off built on a 488 GT3 competition-car platform. Blackbird Concessionaires was appointed Ferrari’s official importer for Hong Kong and Macau in March 2023.

Mak Chun Kiu, known as TK Mak, is the elder son of CCT Fortis Holdings chairman Mak Shiu Tong. CCT Fortis states that Mak founded a publishing company in the late 1990s, developed Milk into a weekly lifestyle title in Hong Kong and expanded the business into China and Taiwan. It also describes experience in media, publishing and luxury-goods retailing before Blackbird.

CCT Fortis says Mak founded Blackbird Group, but the reviewed sources conflict on the founding year: a June 2017 company filing gives 2014, while a 2020 Phillips release gives 2013. No start year is therefore stated here. A July 2026 CCT Fortis filing identifies him as the group’s chairman and chief executive officer. Blackbird Concessionaires was appointed official Ferrari importer for Hong Kong and Macau on 10 March 2023.

Ferrari says the P80/C project began in 2015 and had been its longest one-off development cycle to that point. The track-only car used 488 GT3 foundations; Ferrari’s Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni, with engineering and aerodynamics teams, created a modern Sports Prototype drawing on the 330 P3/P4 and Dino 206 S. Top Gear recorded Mak’s earlier consideration of a 458 GT2 base and his account of more than four years from sketch to metal.

Competition-car foundation

Mak said he chose the then-developing 488 GT3 platform in 2014, after considering a 458 GT2, so the P80/C could use the newest available competition chassis. Its competition-car basis freed it from road-homologation requirements.

Four years from sketch to metal

Ferrari reported that work began in 2015 and that the P80/C had the longest one-off development period to that date. Mak told Top Gear that the work took more than four years from sketch to metal.

In their words

For P80/C, the goal from the get-go was to recreate the feeling of that era – of aesthetics meeting engineering, of equal parts beauty and performance.
