Bugatti Rimac powertrain chief engineer cited in Tourbillon V16 development (2025)

The record

Italian engineer whom Bugatti identified as Powertrain Chief Engineer at Bugatti Rimac in its April 2025 account of Tourbillon V16 development.

Politecnico di Torino’s 2023 thesis record lists Arnoletti as author of a classified MSc Electrical Engineering dissertation, “Preliminary Design of an Electric Drive Unit for Hypercar Application”, with Bugatti Rimac as collaborating company. Its 2018 index lists him among three relators for Federico Gioachini’s “Fast Running Model Building and Application for Fuel Consumption Analysis on Driving Cycles”. A 2024 SAE Torino biography also reports earlier leadership roles at Aston Martin and Maserati.

He has also served as a Dakar navigator. Official Dakar coverage published for the 2025 event says he and driver Claudio Bellina had finished seventh in the preceding edition. A November 2024 Prometeon release names Arnoletti as navigator for the 2025 Italtrans crew and records his statement that it would be his eighth Dakar and second with that team. Italtrans later reported a ninth-overall finish at Dakar 2026.

Bugatti’s 24 April 2025 release identifies Arnoletti as Powertrain Chief Engineer at Bugatti Rimac and attributes a comment on the four-cylinder mule engine to him. It says Mate Rimac contacted Cosworth in 2021, the first complete V16 was ready for dyno testing in 2023, and the Tourbillon pairs an 8.3-litre naturally aspirated V16 with electric support. SAE Torino announced Arnoletti’s December 2024 presentation on a Tourbillon powertrain HiL approach.

Four-cylinder mule first

Bugatti said its early testing used a four-cylinder mule engine rather than the conventional single-cylinder start. Arnoletti’s attributed comment says this allowed the team to assess performance characteristics, sound quality, and overall behavior.

Hardware-in-the-loop testing

SAE Torino described Arnoletti’s December 2024 presentation as a Bugatti Rimac HiL approach connecting the virtual analysis environment to the test bench to debug the system and optimize calibration and controllability.
