The record
Rolls-Royce engineer credited in the register for the Phantom II Continental, Bentley R-Type Continental and Silver Cloud.
Evernden joined Rolls-Royce in 1916 and later became the company's chief projects engineer. The register credits him as a designer and development engineer on the Phantom II, where he worked with Henry Royce on the experimental 26EX that led to the Continental specification.
At Crewe, Evernden worked with John Blatchley on the Bentley R-Type Continental. Their lighter, aerodynamically developed prototype, OLG 490, averaged 118.75 mph at Montlhéry in 1951; the register also credits Evernden as head of the Styling Department on the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.
