Bugatti engineer and chief engineer of the Bolide

The record

Bugatti engineer titled in 2020 for driving-dynamics slip control and all-wheel drive, and from 2023 titled chief engineer of the track-only Bolide.

He first appears in Bugatti's own press on the 2019 record run of a Chiron derivative at Ehra-Lessien. The French newsroom quoted him crediting Dallara and Michelin. By May 2020 the house titled him engineer responsible for driving dynamics slip control systems and all-wheel drive. On the Chiron Pur Sport he spoke for the new ESC-Sport+ mode, which delayed intervention and allowed more slip on a dry circuit.

The task, as he put it, was to govern 1,600 newton metres so that traction remained in all weather while the car still accelerated without feeling constricted. Reduced traction control on the Pur Sport, he said, gave the driver more freedom on dry circuits. He added that the Chiron Pur Sport was sporty and safe on public roads as well as on a racetrack: a hyper sports car calibrated for agility and performance.

By June 2023 Bugatti's newsroom titled him Chief Engineer for the Bolide, the track-only W16 car limited to 40 examples. House copy placed the aerodynamic programme first in simulation, then on circuit; he described that work as belonging to the top level of motorsport, aimed at performance and drivability together. In November 2024, still titled Bugatti's chief engineer for the Bolide, he said never before had an ESC system been combined with carbon-carbon brakes, using Continental Engineering Services' motorsport brake-control kit.

Torque without constriction

On the Chiron Pur Sport he said reduced traction-control intervention let the 1,600 Nm W16 accelerate on a dry circuit without feeling held back, while still supplying traction in all weather and remaining usable on the road.

ESC with carbon-carbon

As chief engineer of the Bolide he said no previous ESC system had been combined with carbon-carbon brakes. The system used was Continental Engineering Services' motorsport brake-control kit, adapted for the track-only W16.

Simulation then circuit

He described the Bolide's aerodynamic development as work that usually takes place only at the top of motorsport. The stated aim, in his words, was performance and drivability together.
