Milan design studio and design partner of the Eccentrica V12
The record
Milan design studio that designed the body of the Eccentrica V12, a first-series Lamborghini Diablo restomod from the San Marino firm Eccentrica.
Borromeo & De Silva S.r.l. was incorporated in Milan in 2011 by Carlo Borromeo, Fabio De Silva and Filippo Sgalbazzi. The studio works in product design, automotive design and communication, from research through industrialisation, from an office in Via Santa Maria Valle. Its own account says three partners opened the office in 2010; the limited company dates from the following year.
The first car to carry the studio's name widely was Automobili Amos's Lancia Delta Integrale Futurista, shown at Grand Basel in 2018. Eugenio Amos named Borromeo de Silva as the design supplier, with engineering by Podium Advanced Technologies. In June 2022, during Milan Design Week, Nardone Automotive presented a Porsche 928 restomod designed by the same office: composite bodywork, purpose-made lamps and a recut interior.
Eccentrica, the San Marino restomod house, then engaged the studio as design partner for the V12, a rebuild of a first-series Lamborghini Diablo. The prototype was shown in Milan in July 2023 and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 13 to 16 July. The body was revised except the windscreen and scissor doors; bumpers, bonnets, flanks and skirts were replaced. The track was widened, the lamps inverted into homologated pop-down units, and several cues taken from the Diablo GTR.
Carlo Borromeo has said a passer-by should not be able to tell the car from a standard Diablo, while someone who knows the model should see the differences at once. The studio sharpens arches and stretches proportions rather than inventing a new silhouette.
On the Eccentrica V12 the windscreen and scissor doors were kept; bumpers, bonnets, flanks and skirts were replaced. The studio cited the Diablo GTR for the balance of size and performance and for several exterior cues.
Type approval blocked the original pop-up lamps. The studio inverted the mechanism into pop-down units, a solution Borromeo compared with the Jaguar XJ220, so the lights still move without breaking the rule.
