Project manager of the first, 997-generation 911 Sport Classic. Porsche publications later identified him as Director Exclusive Manufaktur Vehicles (2019), Director of Limited Series and Options (2025), and Head of Product Management (May 2026).
Porsche’s 2022 newsroom interview identifies Apenbrink as the then project manager of the first, 997-generation 911 Sport Classic. He said the 2009 car revived complex vehicle projects at Porsche Exclusive, as the department was then called: previously, each Exclusive model had been a one-off with a new theme. Larson said 250 examples were built; Apenbrink recalled customers asking when Porsche would make another Sport Classic.
A workshop developed three concepts for the first limited series, including a “Classic Coupé”. Apenbrink said the team then explored SC—Super Carrera—but could not use 911 SC because the rights were held and the car was not a direct successor. They chose Sport Classic for a manual, rear-wheel-drive car with an enhanced engine and Gran Turismo equipment. Apenbrink said its roof with recesses was new at Porsche; Larson said testing costs kept the 250-car 997 Sport Classic out of the US market.
Autoweek called Apenbrink “Special Vehicles director” in 2014; a 2019 Porsche release used “Director Exclusive Manufaktur Vehicles at Porsche AG”; and a 2025 release used “Director of Limited Series and Options at Exclusive Manufaktur.” Porsche’s 2022 interview introduced him as project manager of the original 997 Sport Classic and then Director of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Vehicles. He said customers continued to ask when Porsche would make another Sport Classic.

As Head of Vehicles in 2021, Apenbrink described Paint to Sample development as testing formulas on sheet metal, plastic and CFRP parts. Colour-and-trim designer Daniela Milošević said historical pigments required new formulations for modern water-based paints.
Limited editions polarise opinion deliberately, Apenbrink said, and need a small committed team to carry them from concept through decisions and development. For the first Sport Classic, he said developed pre-production tooling made a limited production run possible without millions in development costs.
