Edward Walson

American cable operator and film producer who commissioned Ferrari's P540 Superfast Aperta after requesting a modern reinterpretation of the gold-coloured Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari in Toby Dammit.

Edward Walson is one of the children of John Walson Sr., who opened Service Electric Co. as an appliance store in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, in 1945. The company says John Sr. extended a cable from a Broad Mountain antenna to the store and several homes in 1948. Its history records 1979 recognition by Congress and the National Cable Television Association, and quotes the Congressional Record calling it the nation's first cable television system.

Service Electric's history records location-based subsidiaries in 1991 and a separate 1993 division of the business among John Sr.'s children. A Morning Call report published in 2012 said that Edward Walson ran Service Electric Co., serving Schuylkill County, Wilkes-Barre and northern New Jersey. The company says he sold Service Electric Cable TV of New Jersey to Altice Communications in 2020; a New Jersey regulatory record puts the agreed cash price at $150 million.

His official Sony Pictures Classics biography lists City Island among his film credits. Sony's Blue Jasmine page and its 8 January 2013 release name Edward Walson among the producers of Blue Jasmine. In 2008, Walson approached Ferrari to create a modern reinterpretation of the gold-coloured Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari in Federico Fellini's 1968 Toby Dammit. Ferrari's release says Pininfarina designed the P540 Superfast Aperta, based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, which Ferrari built in Maranello and delivered to him at Fiorano after fourteen months.
