They document one unusually specified car, not the full Camargue market. The broader band is a cautious editorial estimate informed by those results and the model's 529-car supply; ordinary cars, exceptional originals and conversions require separate treatment.

## Turin gives Crewe a new outline

Rolls-Royce sent a Mulliner Park Ward two-door saloon to Pininfarina in 1969. Sergio Pininfarina assigned the work to chief stylist Paolo Martin, whose brief called for an owner-driver car that remained recognisably a Rolls-Royce.

The Delta prototype ran in July 1972. Production began after the March 1975 launch, first at Mulliner Park Ward in London and from 1978 at Crewe. The 6.75-litre V8, independent suspension and hydraulic height control came from the established SY mechanical family.

Rolls-Royce records 529 sales over 12 years, nearly three quarters in the United States. Auction catalogues sometimes quote 530 or 531, illustrating the difference between sales, chassis and model-year counts; the factory figure is used here.

No other factory-built Rolls-Royce used a non-vertical grille. The change is small in measurement and decisive in profile; accident repair and panel alignment are therefore easy to read. |
| The cabin was the engineering brief | Wide doors, electrically released front-seat backrests and a low seating position gave adults usable access and space in both rows. | One body passed four crash tests | The Camargue was the first Rolls-Royce developed around contemporary worldwide safety rules. One shell passed side, rear, roof and 30 mph frontal impact tests. Energy-absorbing cabin materials and four seatbelts were designed in, not added after styling was complete. That structure also makes a drophead conversion a material departure from factory specification. |
