## MC means Maserati Corse

Maserati announced the MC20 name in February 2020: MC for Maserati Corse and 20 for the year. Development ran through the Maserati Innovation Lab, with production assigned to the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena.

The programme brought engine assembly back to the Modena headquarters. The Nettuno V6, new paint shop and assembly line were installed for the car; the factory uses aluminium subframes around a carbon-fibre monocoque.

The coupé established the base for the open MC20 Cielo and the GT2 race programme. Its collector case remains unsettled because production continues and public resale evidence is still shallow.

Its passive pre-chamber and twin-spark combustion system is the technical centre of the car, not a borrowed badge-engineered unit. The 3.0-litre engine combines port and direct injection, twin electronic-wastegate turbochargers and dry-sump lubrication. Factory output is 630 CV and 730 Nm. |
| One tub, two aluminium ends | A carbon-fibre central monocoque carries aluminium front and rear subframes. Maserati quotes about 100 kg for the tub and less than 1'500 kg for the complete coupé. The structure permits butterfly doors without a separate steel roof frame. Damage history and repair documentation therefore carry more weight than a clean exterior inspection. |
| The first public reset | A 68-mile, heavily optioned 2023 coupé sold for $190'400 at RM Sotheby's Miami in 2025. More than $57'000 in factory options did not prevent the result from sitting below the catalogue's existing $260'000 reference. One sale is not a market, but it establishes the direction: options are not recovered dollar for dollar, and delivery mileage alone does not preserve the original invoice. |
