Confidence: medium. Documented 4.9-litre public sales include $187'000 for a preserved low-mileage car in 2017 and $126'000 for a restored car in 2025. The limited sample supports a range, not a single figure; specification, hydraulic condition, bodywork and originality move results materially.

USD for sound road cars. Exceptional preservation and European bumpers can command a premium; deferred hydraulics, corrosion or incomplete trim can consume it quickly.

A strong original car reached $187'000 in 2017. A restored, Classiche-documented 4.9 sold for $126'000 without reserve in 2025, showing that restoration alone does not fix the price.

## Citroën ownership produced Maserati's first mid-engined road GT

Maserati showed the Bora at Geneva in March 1971. Giulio Alfieri engineered the monocoque, rear subframe and fully independent suspension; Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign drew the low fastback body.

The 4.7-litre V8 arrived first and the 4.9 followed. Maserati's current heritage table lists 314 examples of the 4.7 and 250 of the 4.9, while several auction catalogues divide the same 564 total as 289 and 275. The total is more stable than the variant split.

The oil crisis restricted demand and planned Group 4 racing did not progress. What survived is a small-production road car whose engineering mixes Maserati's quad-cam V8 with Citroën hydraulics and a cabin intended for long-distance use.
