Confidence: estimate. Thirteen verified USD auction sales from 2013 to 2026 cover both specifications, but they do not form one homogeneous valuation set. Standard-car mileage creates wide dispersion and Nürburgring Package cars trade in a separate tier, so the combined model-level band remains an estimate.

Standard LFA: roughly $750'000 to $1'100'000. Nürburgring Package: roughly $1'400'000 to $1'700'000. The displayed range combines both.

The first documented result here fell below the $375'000 launch price. Standard cars later settled around $750'000 to $1'100'000, while Nürburgring Package results moved from $825'000 in 2018 to $1'875'000 in 2023. A 748-mile standard car at $1'810'000 in 2026 is treated as an outlier, not the baseline.

## A research project that outgrew its brief

Toyota opened the programme in 2000. Haruhiko Tanahashi led the engineering team, Hiromu Naruse defined the dynamic targets, and Akio Toyoda tested successive prototypes and carried the project through management.

The first prototype ran in 2003 and reached the Nürburgring in 2004. An aluminium concept appeared at Detroit in 2005, but the move to CFRP reset the structure and required Lexus to develop carbon production methods in-house. Prototype and production cars then ran four consecutive Nürburgring 24 Hours from 2008 to 2011.

The production LFA appeared at Tokyo in October 2009. Motomachi built 500 from December 2010 to December 2012; no successor shared its engine, structure or production line.

Equal-length exhaust manifolds feed a multistage titanium silencer. An acoustically tuned surge tank carries induction sound toward the driver as the V10 approaches 9'000 rpm. |
| One car, one day | LFA Works completed one car per day. A single craftsperson assembled and signed each V10; the final white Nürburgring Package car left Motomachi on 14 December 2012. Around 170 selected workers covered carbon parts, paint and assembly. The line stopped at car 500. |
