# Purosangue

Four doors, twelve cylinders

Ferrari's first four-door, four-seater — and pointedly not, in Maranello's language, an SUV: a mid-front 725-cv V12 over a rear transaxle, active Multimatic dampers instead of anti-roll bars, and welcome doors that open backwards. Production is capped at a fifth of Ferrari's volume, which keeps the waiting list longer than the options sheet.

## The price and the proof

Indicative road-car band $405K–$480K · 5 documented road sales · 5 recorded sales on file. Modeled values are not observed sales. Nothing here is investment advice.

Confidence: medium. A current-production car without price-guide coverage: Hagerty publishes no condition bands yet, and classic.com's own page disagrees with itself between widget and FAQ. The band tracks cleared public auctions of 2025–26 — mostly Collecting Cars and Bring a Trailer — for ordinary-mileage cars; US dealer asks of $530k–$630k are asking prices, not transactions.

Figures in USD for series Purosangue. The Handling Speciale configuration and the ten American Grand Tour one-offs are too new and too thin to band.

The 2023–24 allocation era printed well over list — $690'000 on Bring a Trailer in November 2024 remains the public record. As 18-month no-resale clauses rolled off, UK hammers settled at £300k–£359k and the market moved back toward well-optioned invoice money.

## The four-door Maranello swore it would never build

Sergio Marchionne's line on a Ferrari SUV — that you would have to shoot him first — lasted until 2017, when it softened into 'will probably happen'. The F175 project was confirmed in September 2018, and the name told the strategy: Purosangue, thoroughbred, a claim that whatever this was, it would not be filed among the sport-utilities.

The reveal came on 13 September 2022 at Andrea Bocelli's Teatro del Silenzio in Tuscany: a four-door, four-seat car with a naturally aspirated 725-cv V12 mounted mid-front over a rear transaxle, active Multimatic dampers replacing anti-roll bars, and rear welcome doors hinged backwards. Within weeks the order books closed with about two years of production spoken for; by May 2023 a new order meant a 2026 delivery.

Deliveries began in mid-2023, the design took the Compasso d'Oro in 2024, and the Handling Speciale calibration followed in 2026. The volume stays capped at a fifth of Ferrari's shipments — the resale market did the rest, printing $690'000 for a near-new car in late 2024 before settling back toward list as the no-resale clauses expired.

| Highlight | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Not an SUV, by construction | Maranello's argument is the layout: the V12 sits mid-front behind the axle, the gearbox is a rear transaxle, and the balance lands at 49:51 — sports-car numbers no crossover offers. The factory press release rejects the 'crossover and SUV' archetypes outright; Vigna calls it a versatile sports car. The press invented 'FUV' — Ferrari never did. |
| Dampers instead of anti-roll bars | The Purosangue is the first production car on Multimatic's TrueActive spool-valve dampers: a 48-volt motor at each corner pushes and pulls the body, so anti-roll bars could be deleted entirely. The 2026 Handling Speciale calibration trims body motion by another tenth. Ferrari's first Hill Descent Control is the quiet admission that some owners will actually meet a gravel slope. |
| A fifth of Maranello, no more | Ferrari capped the Purosangue at twenty per cent of its shipments — roughly 2'700 cars a year against 13'000-plus — and closed the order books within weeks of the reveal. By February 2023 orders had filled four times faster than planned; in May 2023 new orders were quoted for 2026 delivery. Reuters' launch arithmetic put the life-cycle at just over 11'000 cars — a policy figure, not a registry count. |
| The doors are the theatre | Four adults sit in four adjustable seats behind two conventional front doors and two electric rear-hinged welcome doors — the first four-door Ferrari in seventy-five years of road cars. The launch colour Nero Purosangue throws red reflections in low light; the cabin seats four around a Burmester system Ferrari claims as a production-car first. |

| Label | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Volume | Capped at 20% |
| Seats | Four · welcome doors |
| Balance | 49 : 51 |
| Boot | 473 l — a Ferrari record |

## Technical specifications

### Powertrain

| Label | Value | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Engine | F140IA 65° V12, 6'496 cc | dry sump, 13.6:1, heads derived from the 812 Competizione — 111 cv per litre without a turbocharger in sight |
| Output | 725 cv at 7'750 rpm | 716 Nm at 6'250 rpm, 80 per cent of it from 2'100 rpm; redline 8'250 |
| Gearbox | 8-speed DCT transaxle | rear-mounted, oil-bath, ratios shared with the SF90 — the clutch sits 15 mm lower than the old 7-speed |
| Front axle | Power Transfer Unit | two-speed unit with torque vectoring ahead of the engine — front drive works to about 200 km/h, then the rear carries on alone |
| Steering | Independent 4WS | rear-wheel steering from the 812 Competizione, tuned for a 2-tonne four-seater |

### Chassis and body

| Label | Value | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Structure | Aluminium spaceframe | all-new, 30 per cent stiffer in torsion than Ferrari's previous four-seaters; carbon roof standard |
| Suspension | Ferrari Active Suspension / TASV | Multimatic TrueActive spool-valve dampers with 48-volt motors at each corner — the first production application, and no anti-roll bars anywhere |
| Doors | Rear-hinged welcome doors | electric, opening to 79 degrees against a fixed B-pillar — the factory never says 'suicide doors' |
| Weight | 2'033 kg dry | factory figure with lightweight options; Ferrari-quoted kerb weight is 2'170 kg — sources scatter, both figures belong together |
| Dimensions | 4'973 × 2'028 × 1'589 mm | wheelbase 3'018 mm; 100-litre tank; the 473-litre boot is the largest ever in a Ferrari |
| Brakes | Carbon-ceramic, by wire | 398 mm front, ABS EVO with grip estimation — and Ferrari's first Hill Descent Control |

Directed the Styling Centre's brief of making a tall four-seater read unmistakably as a Ferrari rather than an SUV.

### Andrea Militello

Shaped the suspended-wing fenders and the layered body that hides the Purosangue's height; insists the team never started from an existing SUV.

### Benedetto Vigna

Owner of the twenty-per-cent volume cap and the 'versatile sports car, rather than an SUV' framing; reopened orders in 2023 only for 2026 slots.

### Enrico Galliera

Chief marketing and commercial officer · Ferrari

Closed the order books in November 2022 with two years of production allocated, and briefed two thousand top clients around the reveal.

### Raffaele de Simone

Head of development test driving · Ferrari

Called the Purosangue possibly Ferrari's quickest car on a typical uneven country road — the active suspension's real argument.
