## Jean Bugatti's common chassis

Introduced in 1934, the Type 57 put a 3.3-litre twin-cam straight-eight into a road chassis intended for several bodies and engine specifications. It became the structure beneath Bugatti's principal touring cars until production stopped in 1940.

The standard 135 bhp car sat beside the supercharged 57C and lower Type 57S family. Factory bodies covered four-door saloons, closed two-door cars and cabriolets; outside coachbuilders extended the catalogue further.
