# Mistral

The W16 loses its roof

The Mistral is Bugatti's last road car built around the 8.0-litre W16 and its first open Chiron-era structure. Ninety-nine were completed; the record car reached 453.91 km/h. Its first public auction had not concluded.

2025 to 2026 · 99 built · Molsheim

## The price and the proof

Indicative road-car band $7.5M–$9.5M. Modeled values are not observed sales. Nothing here is investment advice.

Confidence: estimate. Editorial estimate based on the €5 million net factory price and RM Sotheby's $7.5–9.5 million estimate for an August 2026 offering. That auction had not taken place at the research date, so the ledger remains empty.

Factory options, tax, delivery market and the absence of a settled public resale record can move asking prices beyond this range.

## A roadster added at the end

Bugatti unveiled the Mistral at Monterey Car Week in 2022. The Chiron programme had not been designed around a roadster, so the monocoque and upper structure were reshaped rather than simply opened.

The name comes from the wind that runs from the Rhône valley to the Mediterranean. Its open cockpit exposes the induction noise from two structural air scoops directly behind the occupants.

Series production began in 2025 and ended in 2026 at 99 cars. The complete run had been allocated at launch for €5 million net per car.

| The last roadgoing W16 | Veyron began the 8.0-litre W16 road-car line in 2005. The ninety-ninth Mistral closed it in 2026 with the 1'600 PS specification first used by the Chiron Super Sport 300+. |
| Not a cut Chiron | Bugatti re-engineered the carbon monocoque for an open car. The air scoops behind the seats feed the engine and are strong enough to serve as rollover structures. |
| 453.91 km/h without a roof | Andy Wallace drove the one-off World Record Car to 453.91 km/h at Papenburg in November 2024. Customer cars were specified for 420 km/h in top-speed mode. |
