Borkert became Director of Lamborghini Centro Stile in April 2016. Lamborghini appointed him to lead future-model design and coordinate the design team after a 17-year career at Style Porsche, where he became Director of Exterior Design in 2014.

The register credits him as Head of Design or Head of Centro Stile on the Countach LPI 800-4, Essenza SCV12 and Revuelto. The Essenza was designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile alongside its Squadra Corse development programme.
