Design and production director of Carrozzeria Touring, whose house bodied the Lamborghini 350 GT

The record

Italian engineer who directed design and production at Carrozzeria Touring from 1948 and, with that house, recast Scaglione's 350 GTV as Lamborghini's first production car, the Superleggera 350 GT. Touring also styled the steel 400 GT before closing at the end of 1966.

He was born on 7 April 1916. After engineering studies at the Politecnico di Milano he entered Carrozzeria Touring, the Milan coachbuilder founded in 1926 by his father Felice Bianchi Anderloni and Gaetano Ponzoni, on 1 January 1945. When Felice died of a heart attack in June 1948, he took design and production; Ponzoni kept the administration.

The first cars finished under his responsibility were the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS coupé that won the 1949 Villa d'Este concours and kept the name, and the Ferrari 166 barchetta. Touring then supplied series bodies for the Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint, the Maserati 3500 GT, the Alfa Romeo 2000 and 2600 spiders and the Lancia Flaminia GT, and licensed Superleggera construction to Aston Martin for the DB4 and its successors.

Ferruccio Lamborghini asked Touring to body his first production car. Under Anderloni the house recast Franco Scaglione's 350 GTV as the Superleggera 350 GT, shown at Geneva in March 1964, with aluminium panels on a steel-tube frame. Lamborghini records 150 standard cars. Touring styled the steel 400 GT 2+2 of 1966; Marazzi continued those bodies after Touring closed on 31 December 1966. He later advised Alfa Romeo, founded the Registro Internazionale Touring Superleggera in 1995, and died on 7 August 2003.

### Superleggera aluminium bodies

On the 350 GT, Touring used its Superleggera method: aluminium panels mounted on a steel-tube frame. The 400 GT kept the same GT outline but switched to steel and a higher 2+2 roof.

He ran design and production. Ruoteclassiche records Federico Formenti as the designer of the 350 GT and of earlier Touring series cars, working as his design deputy.
